One Last Look Out The Back

from Album #3 by Robert Turner

/

lyrics

Don’t ask me to think ‘cus I aint got a clue
Why some words will sink, why all too few
Ever come close to the brink of a wild monsoon
The blue horse or the pink, well whose got time to choose?

I stumbled upon it, that old-timey tune
Being played by a trumpet from the peak of a roof
As my hands tugged the ropes and the bells burst loose
And the birds dived below to fly through the eaves of the church

One last look out the back and how the wind it blew
One more diamond for the Jack so I’ll never lose
One more town where the dust blows right through
One last love who I never really knew

So don’t you wait it’s far to go
Heavy’s the crate, long is the load
And I will wander, and I will roll
Through the wind and rain where the wild woods sway
Miles and miles away.
